About Dom

All dreams have to start somewhere…

Dom was born in High Wycombe in May 1995 with a lot of hair and a large appetite.

His family moved around a lot, spending time in different parts of Switzerland before relocating to rural Northamptonshire when Dom was eleven. Dom didn’t always fit in at school and was known mostly as the kid who always had his head buried in a book.

But it was those books, in particular fantasy books, which gave him an escape and sparked Dom’s love of literature.

Age seventeen, and fearing that he had failed his A-Levels, Dom decided to write a fantasy book full of swords, death and politics. It was a plan B, of sorts, a strange but enjoyable plan B.

However, having aced his exams, the project was somewhat pushed aside and the half finished fantasy book was left on a word doc, in a shadowy corner of Dom’s laptop.

Dom attended the University of Leeds in 2013, got a degree in History and returned to Northampton where he rediscovered his project and decided to finish it. The project was eventually given a title; A Better Crown.

While training to become a journalist, Dom continued to write as a hobby, taking inspiration from the books that he had loved all his life. In 2019, he moved to Burnley to take up a job writing for a newly launched website. That same year he developed a love of short stories and began to expand his writing.

In July 2020 Dom became a published author when his short story The Right Honourable was published in the Literary Lancashire Anthology which is available through Beaten Track Publishing.

Dom still lives in East Lancashire and spends his time writing short stories, running, drinking and popping over to Leeds to see his friends from university. He occasionally finds time to edit his fantasy novel, the same one he started at seventeen, the one that has gone through years of rewrites and could possibly be the death of him if he doesn’t get the damn thing finished soon.

Dom is currently looking for a publisher for his debut novel; A Better Crown, he is also working on a sequel.
